Physiological effects

The whole formed by different microbes is called the microbiome and in every part of the body, e.g. the digestive tract, respiratory system and skin have their own individual microbiome.

Colonic Plus® Microbiome nutritional supplement contains patented ButyOil® butyrate in triglyceride form (tributyrin) and vitamin B2 to support the strengthening of the microbiome, the well-being of the mucous membranes and skin, and to protect cells from oxidative stress.

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid that is a metabolic product of intestinal bacteria. Bacteria in the large intestine make butyrate from fiber and resistant starch, i.e. a carbohydrate that cannot be broken down by digestive enzymes and which works in a similar way to water-soluble fibre.

ButyOil® tributyrin is an enteric coated and natural source of butyrate that is only broken down in the small and large intestine.

Vitamin B2, i.e. riboflavin, contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes and skin, to normal energy-yielding metabolism, to normal functioning of the nervous system and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin B2 also contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
